Pavol Tesar
Academic painter Pavol Tesar initially completed his studies of history and literature in his hometown of Bratislava and only later (after finishing his studies of painting with the academic painter Prof. Grabowieczky) did he fully devote himself to artistic creation.
He traveled a lot in Europe and then settled in Slovenia, where he had his first group exhibition in 1992 in Mokrice Castle. This was followed by a solo exhibition in the SKRINA Etnogallery, and later by numerous exhibitions in Slovenia and Europe. He presented himself with many independent projects and historical events.
In 1999, he was awarded the St. Cyril and Methodius Gold Medal in Slovakia for his historical paintings. Prof. Dr. Mirko Juteršek wrote at the time: “As Pavol Tesar is a very prolific and tireless painter, his paintings are represented in various collections across Slovenia.
The artist’s vividly colored landscapes are full of sunshine and optimism and, like his historical paintings, are instantly recognizable.”
