Violet-blue lavender is an intoxicating herb that will bring good mood, positive energy, calm, and relaxation into your home. In many countries it is called lavender, which is a derivative of the Latin verb lavare, meaning to wash. This is certainly no coincidence, as it was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans to perfume baths and rooms. In our country, it is mainly known for its medieval monastic medicine, but its calming and pain-relieving properties have also led to its use in folk medicine. It is still a good idea to have a cup of lavender tea after a hard day’s work and hang a bouquet of fresh lavender in your bedroom, bathroom, and wherever you want to create an atmosphere of love and tranquility. In June and July, lavender festivals are held in Slovenia in the Karst and Styria regions. There you can learn about how lavender is grown, learn about the different types of lavender, try your hand at harvesting with sickle and scissors, and make wreaths or bouquets.
