The Bohinj national costume is basically similar to the Gorenje costume, but it has some peculiarities. All women’s costumes have in common a headdress and a frilled, lace-trimmed white shirt and a wide, ribbon-trimmed blue skirt. Some versions have a long brownish skirt with slits on the sides and a green border around the neck and sleeves. The color of the socks is also different. All men’s costumes have in common a white shirt, a skirt that reaches slightly above the waist, a wide-brimmed hat, and buckskin shorts made of sheep, goat, deer, and chamois skins dyed black or brown. They have a slit on the side with buttons or straps for tying. The trousers are pressed above or below the knees, depending on the footwear. When these are boots with a rolled hem, the pants are shorter. Wool socks in the natural color of wool and low shoes are also popular.
Only some features of the Bohinj costume are described.
