Vida Zupan – Belokranjska noša
The Belokranje national costume, which is significantly different from all other national costumes in both male and female form, is also called “white costume”. The men’s costume consists of a long linen shirt cinched in with a wide leather belt decorated with embossed geometric characters. Long, wide linen pants are finished with fringes at the bottom. On his head is a hat made of black felt, and around his neck is a red scarf.
The women’s costume is a two-piece cut, consisting of a long linen shirt tucked into the waist of a pleated linen skirt. On the head is a stove which is tied to the “rooster” on the top of the head. They are made of white, muslin, chiffon, or cotton tulle and edged with lace, and in some places just trapped. The socks are white and knitted, and exceptionally also red.
