The Triglav flower is a plant of sunny slopes. It grows on rubble, rocky lawns, or in crevices. The silver-grey, soil-hugging pads are decorated with pinkish-red flowers in midsummer. The Triglav flower is one of the symbols of the Triglav National Park. It is linked to the legend of the Goldhorn: a young hunter from the Trenta Valley carried bouquets of mountain flowers to a beautiful girl to win her love. But one day a rich Venetian merchant betrothed the girl, presented her with gold jewelry and the girl paid no more attention to the poor hunter. So, despairing and offended, he set out the same night to find the Goldhorn and bring his golden horns to his chosen one.
In the morning he saw him on a high rock and shot at him, but forgot his miraculous power. From every drop of blood of the shot Goldhorn sprouted the beautiful Triglav flower, and when the Goldhorn ate these flowers, he was cured in a flash.
