Raku ceramics
Raku pottery (raku-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery characterized by dramatic heat shocks and large temperature changes. Today, few potters know this challenging ancient technique, which combines all 4 basic elements – earth, fire, water and air. The effects they get in this way are unrepeatable and often unpredictable. Handmade items must first be glazed. Glazes with a sufficient content of copper compounds, which give metallic effects, are a good choice. Then the still glowing objects are pulled out of the furnace with tongs, placed in a container with sawdust and covered. The last stage is cooling in cold water. Raku ceramics are unique and each item is unique and unrepeatable, so it deserves a special place in your home. The word RAKU  means happiness, contentment, joy and well-being.
