Lace
Bobbin lace testifies to the rich folk imagination and the diligence, precision and patience of the bobbin makers who sit for hours in front of the “punkelno” to create a small pattern. For many decades, bobbing was the only source of income for many families, especially in poorer mining and hill farming areas. The Čipkar school was founded in Idrija in 1876, which has been operating continuously since then. Recently, more and more designers are bringing lace into the urban culture, using some of the old, cobweb patterns that were woven from thin, even thinner, and the thinnest threads and had to be a lady’s “just breath” collar.
