Jurij Kravcov is an academic painter, born Russian, who has been living and creating in Slovenia for many years. He graduated from the Grekov Art Academy in Rostov-on-Don with a degree in applied and decorative arts. He started exhibiting in 1987 in St. Petersburg, Moscow and throughout Russia. This was followed by successful individual and group exhibitions in Sofia, Finland, Belgium and Italy. Although he shows modernist tendencies with his painting technique (oil on cardboard), he remains a classicist in terms of his figural subject matter, who is mainly interested in people and their characters. In the last period, Juri’s life and work were supplemented by his wife Anja, who brought a new pulse to the paintings, which is reflected through the play of objects, lines and colors.
