Klimt – teapot with cup
The Kiss is Klimt’s most famous painting and is considered the peak of his “golden period”, where the luminous geometric ornament threatens to swallow the lover. The figures are embraced by an abundance of silver, gold and platinum leaf, the couple kneels on a beautiful flower mound. The men’s cloak consists of black and white rectangles, their angularity is the exact opposite of the women’s garment in a pink pattern, which is soft and colorful. This fairy-tale and for that time unusual decoration blends in a sophisticated way with emotion into a perfect whole.
Klimt was devoted to experimentation and in his paintings he liked to deal with the blurred dividing line between the psychic inner world and the external reality
