The national costume from Bela Krajina, which differs significantly from all other national costumes in both its male and female forms, is also called the “white costume”.
The men’s costume consists of a long linen shirt pressed together with a wide leather belt decorated with geometric patterns. The long, wide linen trousers with fringes are finished at the bottom.
There is a black felt hat on the head and a red scarf around the neck.
The women’s costume is a two-piece cut, consisting of a long linen shirt tucked into the waist of a pleated linen skirt. On the head is a cap “peča” which is tied at the top of the head with a “cockerel”.
It is made of white, muslin, chiffon, or cotton tulle and trimmed with lace, or sometimes just hemmed. The stockings are white and knitted, or exceptionally red.
These are just some of the characteristics of the Bela Krajina national costumes.
