Sometimes girls wore one or more pleated petticoats under their skirts to make them look more voluminous and thus richer and more desirable. In some places, unmarried girls had a veil on their head, but mostly the headdress was a pecha or avba. Men wear a short pink vest with metal buttons over a white shirt or a short jacket with lapels and long sleeves. Irharce trousers meet high, slightly over-the-knee boots. On the head, a poncho or a wide-brimmed hat. A large red and colorfully bordered umbrella, also called the Carniola marela or \"Jewish parasol\". Only some characteristics of the Gorenje costume are described.
