Beła Krajina is characterized by the “Pannonian type” of national costume, which is fundamentally different from all other national costumes. Because of the color of the canvas, the Bela Krajina costume is also called the “white costume”. It is the closest in material and cut to the garments of neighboring peoples, especially the Hungarians and Zagorje Croats, but also the Czechs, Slovaks, and southern Poles.
The men’s costume consists of a long white linen shirt »robača« pressed together with a wide leather belt. Long and wide white trousers »bregeše«  are made of linen in summer and white cloth in winter. On the head is a black felt hat, with a red scarf around the neck.
The women’s costume is a two-piece, consisting of a long linen shirt »opleče« tucked into the waistband of a pleated, linen skirt »janka«. On the head is a »zavijača«, a triangular, twisted headscarf cut from linen, which is tied at the nape of the neck with free corners.
These are only some of the features of the Bela Krajina costume.
