Raku pottery (raku-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, most often in tea bowls. Dramatic heat shocks and large temperature changes cause it.
It is a technique with unpredictable effects that depend on what we will do with the just-baked product. If the object is quickly cooled in cold water, green or turquoise blue glazes are obtained.
But if we place a hot object in a container with sawdust or other flammable material, and cover the container with a lid, something completely different will happen. A beautiful copper-colored object will appear under the black layer.
