The experts who made bells lived in areas where Alpine livestock breeding (under the careful eye of shepherds) or Alpine dairy farming was developed. At Gorje near Bled they produced two types of bells - one typical for Kranj and the other typical for Tyrol - which differ mainly in shape. The craft of bell-making still thrived a hundred years ago and brought generous profit. Today, these lively colourful bells serve as souvenirs for tourists.
